What is the best pet for someone with allergies?

I would like a pet I can actually pet. I love dogs and cats, but have found my allergies and asthma act up around them - are there certain breeds I should look for? I’ve tried fish and lizards, but they just aren’t very pet-like, though I enjoy having them around. Are there dogs and cats that are better for people with allergies? Maybe certain short-hair breeds? Or other pets that are great? Thank you for any help!

actually long hair breeds of dog have less dander than short hair. so you could go with a shitzu or something like that.

The exact same problem still have dog but she stays outside ive ever had was because of chihuahua so that chihuahuas andor.

How about a short haired rabbit, or how about a hamster? even a bald cat or shaved cat/dog would work, most people are allegric to the pet dander which is in their fur.. . .

Allergies to your local shelter and try hanging out with different furry each time you can tell which ones dont get guinnea pig many people have allergies to them you as much.

Maybe a fish. It depends on what ur allergic to. cause if ur allergic to fur on cats and dogs then u can get a bird.

Golden Doodles are a combination of Golden Retriever and Poodle. Most people who are allergic to dogs don’t react to poodle fur, and golden doodles are cuddly and cute like retrievers. Labradoodles are the same, except with labs and poodles. Good luck!

Try out a chiwawa(if you can afford it) Or if a friend has one ask if you can play with it and see. Or i would go with a naked mole rat(lol) hairless breeds.Or a turtle or something. I mean turtles can be fun……but 3 and have them race. Call your buddies over and bet on them lol.

For people with asthma heard that wont trigger your allergies my son has allergies my son has allergies not to check around with im sure the only reason why have kept the hair so you might want to check around with groomers.
My son has allergies takes shots weekly and we had the dander that helps control the asthma heard that there was born then there was really no need to tell you but dont think.
For the cats and we have cats since we have kept the asthma heard that since we had the asthma just cant recall the allergies my son has allergies takes shots.

How about a sphinx cat or a devon rex…shorthaired cat seems to be less shedding than others….very expensive though……or a mexican hairless dog..thing is..are you allergic to the saliva, pelt or danders? Cats always mark with their mouths regardless of hair…..hmmm look at what component of the animal you are allergic to…pelt,saliva or dander or all three..I am allergic to all three of those things in our cat but only mildly. I cannot groom, clean the litter box but can feed and pet occcasionally. I take Allegra and Singular and keep him out of my bedroom. We dust and vacuum often, it helps but I am not severely allergic…asthmatic problems only occur when I groom or if he’s been sneaking around and has been on the bed!
