Is it possible to eliminate cat allergies?

Allergies
Aria asked:

I have been allergic to cats and horses for the past 5 years, or so. I used to own a cat, and I also used to horse back ride regularly. I have always LOVED animals, and this is very heartbreaking to me. I want to pursue my career as a Veterinary Technician, and this is really holding me back. It is also eliminating living opportunities. If anyone knows of how I can at least relieve my allergies enough to work with and around cats, I would really appreciate it. Most of all, I want to know if there are ways to eliminate the allergies.

Thank you.

Why does Panadol work better for my allergies than allergy tablets?

Allergies
cactustree asked:

In Spring/Summer I often get allergies - runny nose, sneezing, irritated eyes, tiredness, headaches. I’ve tried a few different brands containing such things as Fexofenadine Hydrochloride (185mg). They pretty much never work.
A brand called “Chemists’ Own” with 500mg Paracetemol and 10mg Codeine Phosphate basically stops the sneezing and other symptoms.
Why on earth does this work better than drugs supposedly marketed towards allergies?

What is the best allergy medicine for respiratory allergies?

Allergies
Some Girl asked:

I grew up in Kentucky… and every spring it would rain and I would be up all night coughing and wheezing. I moved to Japan and had no allergies for over 3 years.

Then I moved to Texas and had a different kind of allergic response. It was more the itchy eyes and sneezing… but when I would run, it felt like I had asthma.

I now live in Utah and last summer was miserable! Same symptoms as I had in Texas. The winter has been wonderful without allergies.

Is there something I should start taking now to prevent allergies this spring/summer? And what should I take?

Is it safe to give a dog Benadryl to treat allergies?

Allergies
pennylanegal asked:

My dog has severe itching due to allergies and it gets so expensive to go to the vet every month and get a $100 cortisone shot. I would like to look into some home remedies that might provide relief for my 7 1/2 year old Yorkie. Does anyone know if Benadryl is safe for dogs and if it works (what would be the correct dosage be)? Any ideas would be much appreciated…thank you :) I am currently feeding him Addiction brand kangeroo and apples dog food.
