I’ve been led to believe that prolonged contact with an object you might have allergies to would lead to greater allergies in time, but also that taking small doses of the said substance over a long duration would build up an immunity. Where do these two facts intertwine?
To list a specific object, poison oak/ivy

I have food allergies to most raw fruits, vegetables and nuts. My allergies include: tomatoes, peanuts, apples, pears, melons (all kinds), bananas, berries (all kinds), spinach, lettuce. I gradually became allergic to most of these over time with increasingly adverse reactions; mouth and throat itching and swelling.

My allergies are peanuts, nuts, soy, latex, and other seeds and fruits. I am sensitive to toxins/chemicals in the air such as off-gassing from new rugs. Wondering if there is anyone who deals with something like this, and how would you travel? We’re planning a 14 hour drive, and I don’t want to miss it, but I don’t want to go and be completely stressed out the whole time. Please answer only if you have similar conditions (you or a family member). Thank you.

I have bad allergies. I’ve been on every prescription medication/nasal spray know to man and none of them help. Does anyone know of any possible home remedies that might work. I heard humidifiers help, and saline nasal spray to flush the sinuses….any other suggestions?

professionalkiwi asked:
I read that food allergies can become addictions because our bodies craves the food we are allergic to (some, not all obviously) and can lead to the addiction of that food. This is counter intuitive on so many levels lol So maybe I understood incorrectly.
Can someone explain the link between food allergy and addiction? Is this pseudoscience or real? How does it work?
Serious answers only.
